While in Istanbul, take a trip to the Grand Bazaar and choose from over 5,000 vendors which wares include carpets, clothing, souvenirs, chess sets, watches, and tea! Be aware, however, that while haggling is expected, it can often be a lengthy process, and may be a bit nerve-wracking if you're not used to it.
Istanbul is home to Erzincanlilar, an exquisite deli that is considered by many to be one of the best in the world. Stop by there and try some hard Turkish cheese, or just get your favorite sandwich.
If you want to see the city from above, you can go to the top of the Galata Tower. This tower, built in 1348, features a 360 degree view at the top.

While in Istanbul, you can also try a hookah at its place of origin in one of the many hookah bars. With dozens of flavors available, you are likely to find one that suits you. And if you're a non-smoker, many of the bars serve Turkish coffee (careful with this if you're not used to caffeine!).
